I love Giveaway Day!!!
Be sure to check the lists at
Sew, Mama, Sew for more glorious Giveaways!
More on my giveaway after a few pictures and paragraphs.
Monday -Wednesday was dedicated to yard work. The usual - mowing and then - planting my veggies. Yay! Celebrity and Roma tomatoes, green beans, squash, cucumbers, zucchinis, and jalapena, slim red and ancho peppers. Add some dahlias, jasmine and rearranging some rocks and I was tired!
Thursday, I had lunch with Kat and some gal pals and ended up shopping a sweet antique shop - Old Pittsboro Antiques & Collectibles for about 2 Hours with Libby.
Here's my haul. I have plans for those earrings. Think school colors.
The pewter bracelet is engraved with a dear friends initials! What are the odds of finding that?
She will be super surprised!
On Friday Bill decided we needed to head over to Mebane, NC and check out their downtown.
They have a recovering downtown full of day spas, restaurants and fancy shops.
We did find a bunch of shops more our speed in an old office building near one of the towns many closed mills (as is the case in much of North Carolina.)
At the 2010 Do Drop-in Collectibles and Antiques, 204 N. Fifth Street, I scored a major haul of nearly 18 yards of fabric for $7!!!!!
I see aprons!
I see a cute blue blouse and a simple shirtwaist dress here!
There was a used book store upstairs where all books are 99 cents!
Every day!
I got a couple in addition to the books that were only $1 each at the Calico Antiques Store in Goldston, NC that we visited on Saturday!
Aren't the ladies on the cover of this 1943 book just adorable?
The big book score was this elusive 1956 turquoise cover edition of the Better Homes and Gardens Decorating Book. It's been on my list for a long time and it was $1.00!!!
The other unbelievable bargains were these 5 Talbots sweaters I bought at a yard sale.
There's a black shrug, that is hard to see in my picture, with it's $118 price tag intact. And the darker pink cardigan still has it's $78 price tag. Seriously, I do not want to know any more about these items cause the young lady sold these for $1 each.
Finally, what is up with my daughter, Kat, and her hand?
Friday night Kat and her beau, Brian, prepared a lovely steak, baked bean and salad dinner for us. Bill's back has been giving him fits so he stayed at home. I persuaded Kat to be my apron model.
She is modeling my prize for the Sew, Mama Sew Giveaway! It's a full apron with straps that loop through to form the ties. Blue gingham covered in cherries.
This Giveaway is open to US residents only.
